The company

Playful and peculiar shows to create a special connection with the audience through laughter and emotion.

About Jose Parra

I got interested in performing in my late 20s inspired by clowns like Avner the Eccentric or Fraser Hooper. After learning circus skills and doing street theatre I decided to train at Desmond Jones School Of Mime and Physcial Theatre and the International School of Corporeal Mime. In 2009 I discovered Clown Through Mask with Jonathan Young and I fell in love with it. During this training, I met Charlie Blowers, an art psychotherapist and performer, and joined her company Moving Pieces inspired by the her ideas of creating performance based on one’s life experiences. In 2020 I begun to work with Jamie Wood with whom I have recently devised my first solo show Tomatoes Don’t Fly.
What I Do
I create one-man shows that with minimal scenery can take the audience on an epic journey. I use clowning to mix fiction and reality and create an interactive space with the audience through play and laughter.
How I Do It
The creative process of my shows is a collaboration with other artists. This is a long process during which we research and develop material through improvisation, masks, movement… Then we create a theatrical language with which to share what we discover in an interactive, accessible, fun and relevant way.
For Who
My shows are very accessible and talk about topics that in one way or another affect us all. So far my only show is for adults but those over 9 years old can also enjoy it. I'm also interested in creating family shows.
Where
I am an international clown who can take his shows to any place in the world where Spanish or English is understood. My shows are for small-scale venues. My sets are minimal and everything I need fits in a suitcase.
