The company

Playful, intimate and moving performances that, with poetry and humour, invite us to see our humanity with fresh eyes.

Biography

I’m Jose Parra, an international performing artist specialising in small-format alternative theatre with a strong dose of humour. My work blends clowning, physical theatre, text and performance, and is known for its emotional intimacy, humour, and carefully crafted aesthetics. I trained in London, where I lived for 20 years, drawing on diverse techniques and collaborations—from mime to Pochinko clown. I’ve worked with companies like Moving Pieces and artists such as Jamie Wood, with whom I co-created my solo show Blushing is Not for Men. Real men never blush.

What I Do

I create solo performances that, with minimal resources, take audiences on epic emotional journeys. I mix humour, fiction and reality to explore contemporary themes such as identity, grief, or masculinity. My shows combine clowning, text, physical theatre and stage play to offer poetic, intimate and deeply human experiences.

How I work

I collaborate with artists such as Jamie Wood and Dominic Kennedy. My creative process is long and immersive, rooted in improvisation, mask work, movement and personal exploration. I always look for accessible and playful ways to share insights, using an interdisciplinary approach that blurs traditional genres and prioritises audience connection.

For Whom

My shows are for curious people—those open to feeling, laughing at the absurd, and recognising themselves in vulnerability. Age matters less than the willingness to let go, look inward and play. I speak to those who seek more than entertainment in theatre: a close, intimate experience that reflects who we are, what we hide, what hurts, and what heals.

Although aimed primarily at adults, they are also accessible for young people aged 12–14 and up. I want to reach diverse audiences, without requiring deep theatre knowledge—just a willingness to embark on an honest emotional journey.

Where

I’m an international artist performing in both Spanish and English. My shows use minimal sets and portable formats, allowing me to adapt to various spaces: alternative theatres, festivals, small venues or non-traditional settings. My goal is to always preserve the intimate and powerful essence of the theatrical experience, no matter the location.
